چکیده

The dynamics of a random (quenched) field Ising model (in two dimension) at zero temperature in the presence of an additional sinusoidally oscillating homogeneous (in space) magnetic field has been studied by Monte Carlo simulation using the Metropolis single spin flip dynamics. The instantaneous magnetisation is found to be periodic with the same periodicity of the oscillating magnetic field. For very low values of amplitude of oscillating field and the width of randomly quenched magnetic field, the magnetisation oscillates asymmetrically about a nonzero value and the oscillation becomes symmetric about a zero value for higher values of amplitude of oscillating field and the width of the quenched disorder. The time averaged magnetisation over a full cycle of the oscillating magnetic field defines the dynamic order parameter. This dynamic order parameter is nonzero for very low values of amplitude of oscillating magnetic field and the width of randomly quenched field. A phase boundary line is drawn in the plane formed by the amplitude of the oscillating magnetic field and the width of the randomly quenched magnetic field. A tricritical point has been located, on the phase boundary line, which separates the nature (discontinuous/continuous) of the dynamic transition.

Nonequilibrium Phase Transition and 'specific-heat' Singularity in the Kinetic Ising Model: a Monte Carlo Study

The nonequilibrium phase transition has been studied by Monte Carlo simulation in a ferromagnetically interacting (nearest neighbour) kinetic Ising model in presence of a sinusoidally oscillating magnetic field. The ('specific-heat') temperature derivative of energies (averaged over a full cycle of the oscillating field) diverge near the dynamic transition point.

Nonequilibrium Phase Transitions in Model Ferromagnets: A Review

The thermodynamical behaviours of ferromagnetic systems in equilibrium are well studied. However, the ferromagnetic system, far from equilibrium, became an interesting field of research in last few decades. The ferromagnetic systems in the presence of a steady magnetic field are also studied by using standard tools of equilibrium statistical physics. The ferromagnet in the presence of time-depe...

Critical Behavior and Griffiths-McCoy Singularities in the Two-Dimensional Random Quantum Ising Ferromagnet

We study the quantum phase transition in the two-dimensional random Ising model in a transverse field by Monte Carlo simulations. We find results similar to those known analytically in one dimension. At the critical point the dynamical exponent is infinite and the typical correlation function decays with a stretched exponential dependence on distance. Away from the critical point there are Grif...

Theory of the Random Field Ising Model

A review is given on some recent developments in the theory of the Ising model in a random field. This model is a good representation of a large number of impure materials. After a short repetition of earlier arguments, which prove the absence of ferromagnetic order in d ≤ 2 space dimensions for uncorrelated random fields, we consider different random field correlations and in particular the ge...
